お問い合わせ kurikindi@chorus.ocn.ne.jp

Scroll Down for English.

Hello from Kurikindi,

A few days ago, I wrote about donating cut hair to a charity that makes wigs for sick children who have lost their own hair.

Well, two of my customers have actually donated the hair that I cut.

One of the customers wanted her cut in a bob and the other one wanted her hair cut quite short. I thought the length of the hair I was going to cut off would be the right length to donate to the charity.

So, I told them about the charity that makes wigs for sick children and that they accept donations of hair. I asked the ladies if I could tie their cut hair into lengths and give them to the charity.

Both of the customers happily agreed and were really pleased to help and be useful.

Hair that is given to the charity has to be at least 25 cm long. Lots of people want to help, but their hair is simply not long enough.

This time I had got some hair that was just right, so I want to say a big thank you to the two ladies.

One of the ladies had had a henna and herb treatment done to her hair. I wrote a note explaining this, put the tied lengths of hair in a plastic bag, and then put the note and plastic bag together in an envelope.

The post office has a small packet service when you send something that is under 2 kg and there no letter in the package.

I could send my package to England for 240 yen this time.

(The actual charges vary depending on the weight.)

Two weeks later, I received a thank-you letter.

I was so glad to know that the donation had arrived without any problems.

I want to continue making more and more people aware of the work of this charity.

Making a big change to your hairstyle is a really good way to change the way you feel about yourself.

If you are reading this and you happen to be interested in donating your hair, please let me know.

Little Princess Trust

This is the charity in the UK to whom I send the hair. They use it to make wigs for children who have lost their own hair while undergoing treatment for cancer.

Hello from Kurikindi,

The other day, I blogged about my basil plant that was beginning to shoot. Since then it has been growing nicely.

Several little shoots appeared and, at this rate, the little pot would soon have been full up with lots of little shoots, had I not left some of them in the pot and picked the rest.

Each time I picked an extra shoot, I planted it in another pot. Now I have seven pots, each with one shoot in it.

These extra shoots that I have repotted look like they are growing quite nicely too.

I have decided to give them to my next seven customers.

(After writing the above, I picked and repotted some more shoots and now I have enough for 11 customers.)

The pots that I am going to give the basil plants away in are not real plant pots, so please replant the shoots in a proper plant pot that will allow water to drain, and leave the pot and plant in a sunny place.

Basil plants like damp soil, so please water the plants in the morning and the evening so that the soil doesn’t become dry.

If you would like to have a basil plant, please ask me when you come to Kurikindi.

I hope you’ll all enjoy growing your basil plants.

(Actually, I'm afraid I have given away all my extra basil plants now, but I want to say thank you to everyone that asked for one.)

Hello from Kurikindi.

As customers who have already come to Kurikindi know, I only ever have one customer at a time in my salon. This is because I want my customers to feel relaxed in their own private space. Of course, customers are always welcome to come with their children, families or friends.

Yutenji Temple is close to the salon, if someone comes with you, they can visit the temple while they are waiting for you..
Changing the subject, people sometimes ask me why the salon is by appointment only. The reason is that I don’t want to keep people waiting and I want to give every customer my full attention.

You can contact me via email, so it is really easy to make an appointment or ask about availability.
I don’t want Kurikindi to be just about making your hair look good. I’ll be very pleased if the salon can become a place where people can relax.

Scroll Down for English

Kurikindi

 Hello from Kurikindi,

Today, I'm going to talk about people called Kankyo Kaoristas.

A Kankyo Kaorista is a person who feels close to plants and the fragrances of plants and takes good care of nature and the environment. I think the expression comes from the Japanese words “Kankyo”, which means the environment, “kaori”, which means fragrance, and “suta”, which means person. Believe it or not, but “ista” is the “ista” in “barista”, which is Italian for bartender.

The purpose of the Kankyo Kaorista qualification is to help promote a lifestyle in which more and more people are kind to the planet and the environment. Such a lifestyle will lead to a future with an environment where people enjoy rich, deep fragrances. The qualification started in October of last year.

Even though it is called an examination, the actual exam is taken at home. You have to thoroughly read the official textbook, answer the questions and send in the answer paper.

The examination fee is 1050 yen (including tax) and anyone can easily take it.

If you don't take the exam but only read the textbook, you can still enjoy learning about plant fragrances and the environment.

Plus, there are various examples in the textbook on how to incorporate aromatic plants into your daily life.

I took the exam last year and passed. I was given a certificate and became Kankyo Kaorista.

The truth is that even before becoming a Kankyo Kaorista, I always thought that essential oils and herbal teas helped me. After becoming a Kankyo Kaorista, I started growing herbs. (I wrote about this in a previous blog.)

By the way, in the week since I planted the basil seed, a cute little shoot has appeared, so I am really pleased.

From now on, I will be very thankful for this gift of nature and I also want to raise my own awareness of the natural environment. And, I want to live a lifestyle that is good for the earth and the environment.

And I live a lifestyle of good for the earth and the environment.

I want more people to know about being a Kankyo Kaorista, so I am also selling the textbooks at Kurikindi.

Please try the Kankyo Kaorista test.
